A few Summer Solstice Charms...

The Summer Solstice is one of my favorite holidays in the Witches’ Year. Under the scorching Sun, herbs and wild flowers begin to dry and blossoming fruits begin to show their faces. The forces of Light rule the heavens and the warm Sun nourishes the earth with his revitalizing rays. This is a wonderful time to call forth this light and direct it into our magick. I wanted to share with you a few summertime charms – I hope you enjoy! Many blessings!

Golden Candle Victory Charm: To bring success and victory to a troublesome or difficult situation, on the eve of the Summer Solstice burn a gold candle that has been anointed with pine and honeysuckle oil.  Burn the candle a few minutes before midnight, welcoming the summer and stating out loud a prayer or incantation directed towards bringing solution and victory to your current situation.

Summer Solstice Good Fortune Incense: Using a mortar and pestle, grind together equal portions of the following ingredients – basil, cinquefoil (five-finger grass), frankincense, honeysuckle blossoms, pine resin, sunflower petals and vervain. Afterwards, add nine drops of frankincense and pine essential oil to the blend and mix well. Burn a few pinches of this incense on a glowing charcoal briquette -preferably at sunrise. As the incense burns state out loud a prayer or incantation directed towards attracting all-around good luck and good fortune. Repeat this ritual, once a day for three days.

Wake-Up Summer Bath Recipe:To put an end to procrastination and personal delay blend together equal portions of the following ingredients –chamomile, fennel, rosemary, sea salt, and St. John’s Wort. On any night during the week of the Summer Solstice, add three tablespoons of this blend to a warm bathtub.  Bathe in the fragrant waters stating out loud a prayer or incantation directed towards awakening personal creativity, removing obstacles and ‘waking up’ from procrastination. Repeat this ritual, once a day for three days.
