With the Autumn Equinox upon us, we arrive at the sacred threshold where day and night stand in balance. The light begins to wane, shadows stretch long, and the harvest is gathered with gratitude. This is a time of honoring both the fruits of our labor and the mysteries waiting within the darker half of the year.  I want to share this “Autumn Threshold Ritual Oil,” a magickal potion crafted with herbs and essences sacred to the Equinox. This blend may be worn as a perfume, anointed onto candles or charms, or added to ritual workings of balance, protection, and shadow work. Autumn is the great threshold season, a sacred hinge of the year when golden light filters through turning leaves, and the winds whisper of both harvest and decline. For witches and magickal practitioners, this time is not only beautiful but deeply mystical. It is the season of Persephone’s descent, of Dionysian harvest feasts, and of the quiet remembrance of ancestors. Each falling leaf is an omen, each gust of wind a messenger, reminding us that nothing in life is static - everything flows, fades, and returns anew.  The ancient Greeks marked this season with Eleusinian Mysteries, sacred rites dedicated to Demeter and Persephone. These mysteries spoke of death and rebirth, of seeds buried in darkness that rise again in spring. The Romans too gave thanks to their deities - Ceres, Bacchus, and Consus - through festivals that honored the abundance of fields and granaries.   Autumn Equinox - September 19th-21st   Abbondanza, Equinozio di Autunno, Vendemmia, Mabon, The Witches Thanksgiving  In the Northern Hemisphere the Autumn Equinox occurs between September 19 to September 21 and marks the Harvest of Fruits, Vegetables and Grapes for Wine making. During this time, we as Witches rejoice and celebrate the abundance and prosperity which the Great Goddess has bestowed upon us and prepare ourselves for the cold winter months ahead. In our Witches’ Tradition, the Autumn Equinox is described as a ‘Bachanal’ of revelry, dancing and feasting upon the bounty of the Autumn Harvest. On the Autumn Equinox, day and night are again equal, the night triumphing over the day.
