Psychopomp Magick: Letters to the Departed

Image
There are words we carry long after someone has passed. Things we wish we had said, questions left unanswered, apologies never spoken, or simply one more opportunity to tell someone how much they are missed.  Death may separate us from those we love, but throughout history, spiritual traditions have held that the boundary between the living and the dead is not entirely beyond the reach of prayer, remembrance, and sacred ritual.  In the old mysteries, there were beings entrusted with traveling between these worlds. They were known as Psychopomps, guides of the departed and guardians of the passage between life and death.  But what if we could call upon one of these sacred guides for a different purpose? Not to summon a spirit back into our world, nor to disturb the rest of the dead, but to carry a message across the veil. Imagine placing a letter into a bottle and setting it upon a great and mysterious sea. We cannot follow its journey, nor can we see the distant shore upo...

October and Halloween Magick Recipes

In this rite, it becomes a sacred place of reflection, where we may acknowledge what we have carried and choose what we wish to carry forward.  The October Mirror Ritual is a working of insight, release, and protection. By candle, water, rosemary, and reflected light, we welcome clarity and bless the self that stands before us. Approach this rite with patience and a heart willing to see gently. For this rite, you will need the following ingredients:  One Small Mirror  One White Candle and a Stable Candleholder  Bowl of Spring Water  Rosemary Sprig  One Fallen Autumn Leaf  A Dark Clo...
