Sacred Ritual Unguent - By Firewolf

During the summer I find myself lost amongst a heap of books and botanical articles. I spend much of my time concocting different recipes, many originating from ancient transcripts and modern discoveries. The ancient people of both Egypt and Greece created many ceremonial salves and ointments, usually containing hardy substances such as cypress bark and an array of natural resins.  These curious recipes entice thoughts of a time of simplicity and respect for nature and Her many treasures. The following Sacred Unguent Recipe can be easily created at home. This unguent recipe was created to be worn before, during, and after any sacred ritual or devotional prayer. For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:

¼ cup grated beeswax
¼ cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon frankincense oil
½ teaspoon myrtle oil
½ teaspoon rose oil
10 drops cinnamon oil
10 drops myrrh oil
5 drops cedar oil
pinch powdered dragon’s blood
small glass bottle
small container(s) for unguent

In the small glass bottle blend together the essential oils. In a microwave safe bowl, melt together the beeswax and coconut oil. (You may also use a double boiler to melt together the coconut oil and beeswax). If using the microwave, melt the coconut oil and beeswax at one minute intervals, stirring each time. When the coconut oil and beeswax has completely blended and liquefied, add the blended essential oils and the powdered dragon’s blood.  If desired, you may state out loud a prayer or incantation during this process. Stir and pour the blend into the container(s). Seal the container(s). Allow the blend to cool for at least one hour in a dark place. This Ritual Unguent can be worn on the wrists and neck before any spiritual ritual or devotional prayer. When I created this delightful blend I used a stalk of fresh parsley to stir the coconut oil and beeswax together. The coconut absorbed a hint of sweetness from the parsley, giving this blend an added deep sweetness. Enjoy!
