Lammas 'August Eve' Herbal Charms - By Firewolf

The Lammas or August Eve festivities bring laughter, joy and celebration. During this abundant occasion, many seek the power and magick of Lammas - to attract prosperity, love and protection. The following herbal charms can be easily employed to attract wealth, prosperity, love and protection from negative or otherwise unwanted forces and vibrations. Some of these plants, flowers and roots may be poisonous; they are not to be consumed or burned without the assistance of a qualified physician/herbalist.

BARLEY LOVE DOLLS: On the night of August eve, gather two sheaves of barley, red and black ribbon and a bottle of Love Potion or Oil. Begin by creating two small dolls with the barley sheaves - using the red ribbon to fasten each figure properly.  dd a few drops of the Love Potion/Oil onto the chest of each doll. Using the black ribbon, tie the dolls together face-to-face. When tying the dolls together, you may state out loud a prayer or incantation focused towards attracting a new and substantial lover. Keep the doll hidden underneath your bed.  On the night of August 1st - toss the doll into a roaring fire - making a wish of true love and happiness.

LAMMAS PROTECTION SACHET: On August Eve, in a black or gold cloth bag, place one large golden topaz stone, one teaspoon of heliotrope blossoms, three holly leaves, one teaspoon of blue vervain, two teaspoon of barley, thirteen sunflower seeds, and a piece of blackthorn bark. You may add a few drops of Protection Potion or Oil or Lammas Potion to this blend. Leave this charm bag in a windowsill to collect the light of the sun and moon. While fashioning the charm bag, you may state out loud a prayer or incantation directed towards protection and safety. Carry the cloth charm with you for nine days; later you may bury the bag next to a healthy growing tree or keep it in your sacred space.

LAMMAS PROSPERITY INCENSE: On the eve of August, blend together one teaspoon of frankincense, barley, heliotrope, mint, and vervain. To this herbal blend add thirteen drops of Money Potion or Oil. Burn a few pinches of this blend a glowing charcoal and allow the smoke to fumigate your home or business. You may also carry heliotrope in a black or gold cloth bag to attract wealth and success.

The Witches Harvest - Cornucopia – July 31st - August 2nd  Meititura, Lughnasadh, Lammas, The First Harvest, Harvest of Corn and Grain  Meititura - The Harvest of Grain and Wheat During the month of July into early August, corn and grains were the first crops to be harvested by the ancestors of the Witch.
